In-Person Studies for 4-5 year-old children
Draw and Erase
When do children decide to do things they should, even when they don’t want to? In this game, children will work with a puppet partner on a task while presented with options that are more fun. They will then be asked how their partner should act, and how to teach the task to someone new.
Ages 4-6. Approximate length = 10-15 mins.
Questions? Contact Jessa Stegall (jrs182@duke.edu).
Rule Following
Do children think that some rules are for them, and some are not? In this game, children will be told about some rules for two different games - a toy sorting game and a marble run game. Then children will be asked to follow the rules themselves even when it may be more fun not to, and asked some questions about what they think about those rules.
Ages 4-5. Approximate length = 10-15 mins.
